Another day, another deal! Matilda Vinberg has signed a new long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur Women. Today’s announcement followed yesterday’s news that Olivia Holdt had done the same. The winger said “it feels amazing,” to have agreed the deal.
“Obviously I’m very happy here,” she added. “It was an easy decision for me to extend my contract. Ever since I started my journey here at Spurs, I’ve had great support from the staff, the players are amazing, and I think we have a good potential to become a top team in the WSL.”
Head Coach Martin Ho said: “I’m delighted Matilda has committed her future to the club. It shows real belief in the direction we’re going, and continuity in the group is a key part of building something strong.”.
The Spurs boss added that the winger is “a player we really believe in.” The 23-year-old Sweden International is enjoying her best campaign for Spurs since joining from Hammarby in January 2024. She has seven goal contributions to her name in all competitions so far.
However, Ho believes “there’s a lot more within her that we see every day on the training pitch, just giving her the environment where she can thrive and the confidence and belief in her ability is important. Her technical quality, flexibility across positions and attacking instincts give her a really high ceiling. Now it’s about turning that into consistent impact, and I’m confident everyone will see that.”
Matilda Vinberg New Deal Shows Confidence in Martin Ho
It has been a frustrating couple of weeks on the pitch since the international break. Spurs lost at home to Everton and then away to Man City. However, it is hard to see the two recently announced deals as anything other than demonstrations of confidence in the Martin Ho Project™ from both the players and the Tottenham hierarchy. They followed midfielder Eveliina Summanen committing her future to the club last month.
Fans will no doubt also want to see the likes of Lize Kop, Clare Hunt and even summer arrival Toko Koga sign new contracts
