Alice Sombath has signed for Spurs Women from OL Lyonnes, the club announced today. The 22-year-old French international heads from Lyon to north London on a permanent deal, subject to international clearance and work permit.
Sombath can play at both right-back and centre-back, and was involved as Lyon won five consecutive league titles. She has represented France at every level from under-16 to the senior side, including playing in all four of their Euro 2025 matches, starting three. She has also played in the Champions League.
The defender said: “I want to do my best here at Tottenham Hotspur. I think the league is very competitive, every game is a tough game, and that’s what I’m most excited about. I saw that Spurs had a very good season last year – my qualities can bring something to the team, even though I know they already have a lot.”
Welcoming the new arrival, Head Coach Martin Ho said that Sombath is “a player we’ve followed closely for some time and one who fits the profile of what we’re building here.” He described her as “an aggressive defender who is comfortable in possession, competitive in her duels, and has the ambition to keep improving every day.” Ho added that the signing was “another important addition as we continue building for the future. We’re bringing in players who are hungry to develop, committed to our way of working and capable of helping us move the Club forward.”
