
Beth England is leaving Spurs when her contract expires at the end of the season, the club confirmed Thursday. The forward joined fee a record £250 million fee from Chelsea in the 2022/23 January transfer window. At the point, the teams was on the precipice, about to be relegated. The new arrival scored 13 goals in 14 games, 12 in the WSL, averting disaster.
Furthermore, Beth England went on to captain the team from the start of the 2023/24. She led the team to Wembley in the FA Cup, having saved the team against Sheffield United and Chelsea. In total, she has so far scored 32 WSL goals and an additional six in other competitions whilst playing in lily white.
Beth England is leaving as Spurs’s all time top WSL goalscorer. She has passed 200 WSL appearances, during her time in north London. Furthermore, she becmae the first player to score over 25 goals for two different sides.

Commenting, Tottenham Hotspur Women’s Managing Director, Andy Rogers, said: “Bethany’s leadership has shaped a defining era in the history of Tottenham Hotspur Women. Upon arrival she drove a rise in standards, professionalism and desire, and she has continued to uphold and push these values throughout her time here.”
Speaking at the press conference ahead of the weekend’s clash with London City Lionesses, manager Martin Ho said Eng is a “really good, wonderful captain and someone who I’ve got huge respect for,” Additionally, he noted that “she’s so committed and leads by example.”

The Spurs captain posted an emotional video announcing her departure. In the clip, England recalled all the great on pitch moments. She also said that the Spurs fans “made me feel seen again”. The 31-year-old noted the work she has done with Proud Lilywhites and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation too. I exclusively interviewed her for The Daily Star on one of her trips with the foundation. It was clear her commitment to the cause was genuine.
Rogers noted this work in his statement. “As well as her incredible contributions on the pitch, Bethany has been instrumental in connecting with our fans to bring them closer to the team, and committing herself to our Foundation to ensure we are making a positive impact on the community around us,” he said. “Bethany has etched her name in Spurs Women history, and can leave feeling proud of the lasting impact she has made on the Club.”
